Book Review ⎸We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

Genre: YA, Contemporary, Mystery

A beautiful and distinguished family. A private island. A brilliant, damaged girl; a passionate, political boy. A group of four friends—the Liars—whose friendship turns destructive. A revolution. An accident. A secret. Lies upon lies. True love. The truth.

It’s impossible to describe the plot of this book without giving anything away. All I can say is that I absolutely loved it, and if you are interested in picking it up, don’t read any plot reviews that could potentially spoil it. It’s one of the more clever books that I’ve read in a while, and I thought that it did a great job of hooking the reader. I read this in one day because I could not put it down. The writing style took me a few chapters to adjust to (it’s very choppy and fragmented), but I didn’t even notice it by the halfway point. Go read this.
