The Monkey’s Paw | Toronto, Canada

I’ve been reminiscing about the good old days, when we were allowed to leave the house and travel to places. Last summer, I took a trip to Toronto and it was magical. In fact it was so magical, that I’ve seriously considered moving there one day. It’s so clean and kind and artsy. Definitely a fun place to go to if you have not been.

While I was there, I went to this book shop, which specializes in the old and unusual. The Monkey’s Paw not only offers a unique selection of books that you never knew you wanted, but it also houses the world’s first randomizing book vending machine. Isn’t that the coolest thing you’ve ever heard of?!

Below is a video from the website on how it works, and you can see someone use it (I love the sound it makes). I would highly recommend taking a virtual field trip and watching this video. You should also check out their remote window display

The vending machine gave me a book of speeches by J.M. Barrie and my boyfriend received a New American Business Cyclopedia from 1924. We also made a separate purchase, which is an illustrated anthology of sorcery, magic and alchemy. As the shop advertises, the books are very old and very unusual.
